2.5 stars for her Alpha Wolf

I don’t often read paranormal stories and this is my first with werewolves/shifters! Sometimes you have to try something new. The author mentions that the paranormal element is very light and that is true! Apart from mind reading ghost Bailey who shows a few times and 2 transformations to/from werewolves in the beginning … that’s it!

This book has a lot happening in 123 pages and it feels unfinished. We get a glimpse of Gwen’s wolf trying to come to the surface but that’s it. Since the book starts with werewolves, Simon is one, Gwen becomes one and the title is “Her Alpha Wolf” I would have expected to read about her transformation too. Even though I’m glad the paranormal parts were light in this book, I missed this. It didn’t feel complete…

This is the 3rd book I read with a Daddy Dom and Little Girl and I’m open to reading this. Simon is very dominant and Gwen a very submissive women that really needs to be taken care of. Some parts were really sweet but the parts with a diaper, playpen and sippy cup were a little bit too much for me! I know that in the book description the diaper is mentioned but honestly I was a little bit clueless and thought that had something to do with the werewolf part …

What I didn’t like and you read that in a lot of books is the bare sex without talk about STDs and birth control. And then there is the second sex scene where Simon takes her other hole. If you take into consideration that she was a virgin their first time and this is only their second time and this time he already goes for her other hole with little preparation! Their ‘relationship’ is too rushed for me. But as I mentioned this book is only 123 pages…

Since I knew what I was getting into (paranormal elements and ‘diaper’) I’m taking that in consideration for my rating and give this book 2.5 stars. It was too rushed and feels unfished to me.

All about the D

Oh yeah I love when I find a new to me author and luck would have it me finding Regina Shiderly. She made me laugh and I had so much fun reading Her Alpha Wolf. I wasn’t sure about it when I looked at and found myself pleasantly surprised and glad that I picked it.

The storyline a mixture of two of my fav genres and one genre that is my first time reading. I loved the characters, it was easy to picture in my mind their personalities.
Its really nothing wrong with needing a keeper, and little miss Gwen is about to see the light. She is so easy going that she loses sight on what’s important, herself. Not getting enough sleep, not eating right and not being able to say no...after a while will wear on you.

Simon is all about his word is law period, as the Alpha he protects what’s is even if they haven’t accepted it yet. (smiles) When Gwen just about falls in his lap, he’s quick to scoop her up as if she was a little doll to be taken care of. Simon sees in Gwen what she’s feeling but has brought it out to light. With patience, discipline and guidance he is sure he will be able to bring out and take care of her needs.

It was nice to watch Gwen fall into herself even still pushing the line, but accepting once she is guided to the path. Simon showed his Dom instincts from the very start his patience but firmness not only shows his strength but shows that he cares.

I want more! Yep loved it, just the right length, fun sexy and sassy. With hints of shifting and the beastly attributes. (Id have loved to seen a bit more) the bit of danger just added a layer to an already wonderful story. Oh Oh and I love his sister!! Grins. Enjoy

A lot is packed into this "little" gem

I am at a loss for words with this one. I'm still smiling and shaking my head from the whirlwind that is this "little" book. So much is packed into this novella that it's a bit schizo in a really good way. Don't believe me?

*inhaling deeply to try to get this all out in one shot*

There's werewolves, ghosts, murder, intrigue, environmental awareness, a needs-to-be-b!tch-smacked-into next-week jealous ex-girlfriend

*catching my breath here, like I'm on the twelfth day of that Christmas song*

ruffians, guns, Alpha-yumminess, a buttload of humor, spankings, age-play, AND diapers.

I think I just heard a record scratch to a halt on that last bit. heehee

Yes - this is a Daddy n little one age-play story too. A new sub-genre for me and not really my cuppa I don't think.

So why did I rate it a 5* then?

I knew what I was getting into, so why fault a well-written book just because I don't find a piece of it to be my personal kink? The age-play is well thought out and was actually very sweet and nice. It didn't get me squishy in my panties, but I did appreciate the emotional aspects that were explained in a thought-provoking manner.

The story was very creative - I mean, it kinda would have to be to include all of that and still be cohesive and fun to read, right?! I'll be checking out other books by this author, just might bypass the age-play ones for now ;)

PreS-Gr 2—Tim is on his way home from school one rainy, dark day when he meets Sam, a big blue whale who made a wrong turn and got stuck in his neighborhood. It's very dark, and the other kids in the neighborhood can't see Sam. Indeed, he is virtually hidden on the pages, deep sea green against a dark blue-black background. Sam is metaphorically a fish out of water, and so is Tim. Sometimes the boy feels like no one notices him. But seeing each other, "they both felt better knowing they weren't invisible," and they become friends. Tim brings Sam some water and promises to help him get back to the sea. It takes lots of planning, but Tim is determined to help because "friends don't let friends down." After reviewing the plans together, they decide to use Tim's bike to tug Sam back to the ocean. It was hard work, but Tim "should not…could not…would not let his friend down." Ultimately, Tim is successful, splashing and crashing deep into the ocean. Sam is nowhere to be seen, but only for a moment. He returns to Tim, now safe on a buoy, and delivers a friendly kiss because "friends don't let friends down." In the last scene, there is a pictorial hint that Tim will be making a new (human) friend as he comes ashore. In addition, the mood of the illustrations changes from dark and moody to sunshine bright. The cartoonlike pictures are rendered in acrylics with digital enhancement, primarily in dark greens and oranges until the final panels. Tim finds a whale beached on a street adjacent to his school and vows to help his new friend get back to the sea. The amorphous, sluglike whale, Sam, is simply stuck and as shockingly invisible to others as Tim is. The whale's hugeness captures the heft and burden of Tim's own inexplicable loneliness. Readers first see Tim standing alone in pouring rain, his face obscured by a dripping hoodie and his need for a friend plain. Sam's massive body, a murky emerald green, often entirely fills the page, making him difficult to discern. His round eyes, however, deliver remarkably acute information about his worry and salty homesickness. Tim's earnest promise to get Sam back to the ocean brightens this book of dark double-page spreads, done in deep blues and greens from the very bottom of the sea. Beaming tangerines highlight all the words and people in this friendship tale, buoying every inky illustration. Children will cheer as Tim ties Sam to a rope behind his bike and pulls and pedals and huffs and puffs him all the way to a seaside cliff...and over! Delightful look at friendship and loyalty.

I love books that help emphasize the importance of friendship at an early age, so it's probably unsurprising that I absolutely fell head over heels for the utterly delightful To the Sea.

Debut author Cale Atkinson introduces us to Tim, a young boy who happens to meet Sam, a whale who has lost his way. As Tim and Sam figure out how to get Sam back to the sea, Atkinson shows how friendships are formed, and how their trust in each other that helps them do extraordinary things.

Atkinson tells a lovely story in very few words, using short, cheerful sentences to emphasize Tim's initial loneliness, and his utter joy in meeting Sam, a kindered spirit. Their mutual realization that they truly see each other is heartwarming, and a great reminder on how having a friend who truly understands you, can inspire great ideas and even greater adventures.

Atkinson's storytelling is beautifully accentuated by his bold and detailed illustrations. The bright tangerine tones help dually emphasize Tim's optimistic personality, and also help brings warmth to Tim and Sam's friendship. Atkinson also makes great use of double-page spreads, helping to emphasize Sam's size, and the magnificient scope of Tim and Sam's time together.

Of special note: As author Caryn Caldwell points out in her review, younger readers may be alarmed by an almost-drowning scene in the final pages of the book. Adults should be aware, and also feel ready to talk about the scene.

Sweet and charming.

To the Sea is a sweet, sweet story that will melt the heart. The illustrations are charming and innovative, lending even more power to a tale that delivers an important message on the nature of true friendship and the perils of being invisible. This enchanting picture book utilizes a firm sense of whimsy to explore a real world problem When young Tim meets Sam, they quickly discover that they sure the common feeling that they are invisible, which is pretty funny since Sam is a big blue whale. Tim and Sam form an unlikely friendship, which causes them both to realize that they are no longer invisible. Tim's efforts to return Sam to the sea brings out the book's major theme: "friends don't let friends down." Friends are never invisible to each other.

The innovative illustrations are captivating, with a unique color palette that evokes the deep blues and greens of the sea. The offsetting orange text, and orange depictions of the "real world" are startling and effective. Sam's bright orange coat is anything but invisible in the wide expanse of the blue-green sea. My only concern about this beautiful package is that some of the spreads are very dark,and it's sometimes difficult to discern Sam. It's a wonderful idea to make the big blue whale the most difficult to see, but I worry that in group sharing, kids won't be able to discern his giant sized charm. Still, I think it's always easy to see the power of friendship, and that's the most affecting part of this journey To the Sea.

A nice message about appreciating one's friends

Tim feels invisible until he finds a whale washed up on shore. When he and the whale are the only ones to notice each other, they form a friendship. But Tim knows that whales belong in the ocean, and he's determined to save his friend -- even if the dangerous plan he comes up with puts Tim himself at risk.

This is a lovely story with strong, bold illustrations, a hopeful ending, and a nice message about appreciating one's friends. Some children may find the scene where Tim nearly drowns a little distressing, so adult guidance might be helpful.

About the Author

John J. Crowley is president and CEO of Cancer Research and Biostatistics (CRAB), Seattle, Washington, director of the SWOG Statistical Center, and a faculty member at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The author or coauthor of more than 350 refereed articles, book chapters, and other publications, Dr. Crowley is a fellow of the American Statistical Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the International Biometrics Society, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He received his BA (1968) from Pomona College, Claremont, California, and his MS (1970) and PhD (1973) in biomathematics from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Antje Hoering, PhD, is a senior biostatistician at Cancer Research and Biostatistics (CRAB), Seattle, Washington. She is also an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington and an affiliate investigator at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Dr. Hoering is the lead statistician of the SWOG Myeloma Committee, the SWOG Early Therapeutics Subcommittee, and the Stand Up To Cancer, Pancreatic Dream Team. She is the coordinating statistician for the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy, the International Myeloma Committee, and the Pancreatic Cancer Research Team. She serves as a consultant on a variety of industry-sponsored studies and has been the biostatistics representative on two Type B meetings with the FDA. She is member of the American Statistical Association, the International Biometrics Society, and the International Myeloma Society. She received her BS (1985) from the University of Tubingen, Germany, her MS (1988) in physics from Oregon State University, Corvallis, and her PhD (1991) in physics from the Max Planck Institute for Theoretical Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany. She transitioned into biostatistics with a three-year NRSA postdoctoral fellowship with the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

"Her priority is that diabetes will not defeat her. Will it defeat you?"

     This book was authored by the husband of a woman who almost died from type-II diabetes. He describes her struggle and provides advice for other diabetics, as well as a warning for those not yet afflicted with the disease.

     Johnson's wife, Sharon, was only fifty-one years old when she was diagnosed with type-II diabetes. Indeed, she became gravely ill, with a near-lethal blood sugar level, before her doctors arrived at that diagnosis. However, Sharon dramatically lowered her blood-sugar level and improved her general health by making certain lifestyle changes. Johnson organizes these lifestyle modifications into a six step approach beneficial to not only diabetics but anyone wanting to improve their general health. In the section on diet management, there is a sample meal plan.

     There is a great deal of information out about diabetes. Some of this information presented in this book is available through many sources (i.e., suggestions such as altering one's diet and getting enough exercise). However, the six steps are nicely organized and easy to follow. Furthermore, Johnson has been able to observe first-hand how these various modifications affected and continue to affect his wife. For example, he mentions that if his wife has missed exercising for several days, he notices a decline in her physical health and mental outlook. Also, he provides simple, clear explanations of the medical aspects of the disease, such as explaining what it means to have high blood sugar and what it will do to one's body in the long run. There were a few editing issues, such as a word being left out, minor typos, awkward sentences, and punctuation errors. A reference list would have been a nice addition to this book. Overall, though, it is a helpful guide, especially for newly-diagnosed diabetics.

I received this book from the author at a health fair two years ago. I am now ordering four more books today. I am a registered nurse and this book is an excellent tool that I use to help my patients. I am ordering more because the one I have looks like it has been through a war. Hence, certainly easy to see that it is getting used. I can not recommend this book enough. Type 2 diabetes is a huge problem for our country. If you are motivated to manage your diabetes, buy this book now.

fun-to-read research-backed 8 steps to greater creativity

This fascinating book not only claims that we all have what it takes to be creative people but also gives a research-backed, step-by-step process to make this claim a reality. The format is very user-friendly, with lists and personal assessments, inspiring quotes, and intriguing tales and current research supporting Keith Sawyer's eight steps to greater creativity. An impressive blend of the scientist and the artful storyteller, Sawyer makes it fun to learn how to solve every-day and entrenched problems with fresh insights. This is not a linear process but one which "zig zags" along.

Be warned, Sawyer is very clear that creativity is not the result of one sudden inspiration that we can quickly acquire by some new form of free thinking nor is it a magic potion to be pulled out when stumped with a difficult problem...rather it is the result of specific daily practices combined with hard work. The exciting news is that once we make these eight steps part of our modus operandi, we will grow accustomed to little bursts of insight and creativity permeating all of our projects and efforts. Whether we are business people, church volunteers, school principals, stay-at-home moms, or artists, this easy-to-read book can lead us to become truly creative people!

Still Using the Advice

I read this book in manuscript form, and found it more helpful than any creativity book I'd ever tried to parse. Most are either full of air and zing, no substance, or ponderously technical, or preachy and unhelpful.This one's smart and solid and inspiring. I've been using Keith Sawyer's insights ever since, with flashes of gratitude every time they pay off. He's right: Creativity takes hard work. But he's managed to make the work understandable, doable, and fun. And now it no longer feels like work.

Creating Creativity

Full disclosure: I know Keith Sawyer and have worked with him. I'm, Bob Mankoff, the cartoon editor of The New Yorker. I've always been interested in the creative process especially as it relates to humor and the creation of cartoons. By the way, if you want to read all my reviews on Amazon, you can stop right here. This is the only one so far.

Anyway, I read a previous book by Keith "Group Genius" and was very impressed about the research he brought to bear on the general process of creativity and wondered if he was interested in looking into as it applied to humor creation. Long story short it did. As he wrote

"I found that there's a pattern to their creativity--and this pattern provides a window onto how all creativity works for scientists and inventors and for The New Yorker caption contest as well."

His new book "Zig Zag: The Surprising Path to Greater Creativity", wasn't surprising to me because of my past work with Keith, but will be revelation to people who think creativity is some God given gift, or if you're an atheist, some genetic given gift. Reading this book will tell you it's the gift you can give yourself. First by buying the book, and then, by not just reading it, but by applying it's principals and doing it's assignments. Then, after you've given yourself the gift of creativity you can pass it on by re-gifting this book to someone who's still waiting for the light bulbs to go off in his or her own head.

About the Author
Stephen P. Robbins received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. He previously worked for the shell Oil Company and Reynolds Metals Company and has taughtat the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Concordia University in Montreal, the University of Baltimore, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and San Diego State University. Dr. Robbins; research interests have focused on conflict, power and politics in organizations, behavioral decision making, and the development of effective interpersonal skills. His articles on these and other topics have appeared in such journals as Business Horizons, California Management Review, Business and Economic Perspectives, International Management, Management Review, Canadian Personnel and Industrial relations, and Journal of Management Education.

Dr. Robbins is a best-selling textbook author in the areas of management and organizational behavior. His books have sold in excess of three million copies and are currently used by students in more than a thousand U.S. colleges and universities, and have been translated into16 languages.

Dr. Robbins also actively participates in masters' track competition. Since turning 50 in 1993, he has set numerous indoor and outdoor age-group world sprint records. This book includes a SAL code

The Amazon version of the Organizational Behavior textbook does not include access to the Self Assessment Library or SAL, that some courses require. Purchasing this gives a paper version, cd-rom, and the online SAL version if it is needed for your class. If not do not bother with this book. That said the textbook plus this addon new was still wayyyyyy cheaper than buying used at my bookstore. If you purchase the Organizational Behavior textbook used this book will provide a code for it. Buying this from amazon is cheaper than purchasing the code separately from Pearson Higher Ed., the publisher of this book.

Required Material For Organtizational Behavior Course

I purchased the Self-Assessment Library for a major paper assignment in my management course. The book was reasonably priced on amazon and being a amazon prime member gave me a discount/free shipping. I like that the book comes with a CD in the back, which allows you to take the assessments on your computer instead of in the book. The calculations of the assessments can be tricky, so I would suggest using the CD to take the assessments. It also comes with an access code that provides premium online content.

Excellent Whether Psychology Major or Not for Understanding One's Own Personality and Group Dynamics

Various self-assessment tools included in this text with clear instructions and analysis. Some explanations are a little too general (emphasizing individual characteristics in a cluster rather than what such an association may indicate). This is an introduction and with this understanding it is informative and interesting. Can be utilized whether or not one is a psychology major, or just has an interest in understanding one's own personality etc.
