A MUST-READ for any marketer!

I've read their first book - Brains on Fire - several years back when it came out and I have purchased several copies as Christmas gifts for my friends and colleagues at Intel. Ever since then I've been a huge fan of the agency and their writing (no, their philosophy!).
So when I read The Passion Conversation, no surprise there - it didn't disappoint. If you are a marketer or a business owner, I highly urge you to read this book. It educates, it inspires, it rallies, it emotionally awakes you as an individual and a marketer. It opens your eyes to what building relationships with your customers and advocates really means.
I loved the book and will be buying it as Christmas gifts this year yet again.
Disclosure: Brains on Fire sent me a free copy of the book. That said, I wouldn't review it if I didn't think it deserves to be read. Plus, it was a brilliant marketing move leading to more sales. So there you have it, these guys know how to inspire word of mouth!

We liked this book so much that we bought 56 copies and sent them to all of our clients. It makes important points that are often overlooked to the detriment of your company or clients. Very useful in it's examples and the writing transcends the average business book and moves into the realm of story telling. Buy this now. You can thank the authors later.

Hands down the best , rather, business (maybe people?) book I have read. It's inspiring and actionable at the same time. The "passion conversation" is too often overlooked by marketers for the shiny new tools. My copy has more notes, highlights, and dog ears than any book I own. Read it and you will be a better leader of your brand/cause/passion, and a better person.

Accelerate Your Heart Rate

Acceleration is a wonderfully written suspense novel. This book actually got my heart rate up. Finding out what acceleration means is an interesting part of this novel.

Some who are critical of this novel must not have read all of it because all of the preliminary facts and details suck the reader into the world of the main character, Duncan. By the time you realize you are totally immersed in the cold, dark, murky existence of Duncan and his nightmares, you are hooked.

McNamee does a tremendous job with the setup, which makes the climax a thrilling peak to the intriguing story of a lost soul who finds himself depressed by his recent past, and looking for a way to make up for mistakes he feels so much responsibility for.

The main character, Duncan, gets himself in WAY over his head and nearly drowns himself in a world of terror and PURE FEAR and adrenaline that moves this novel to a perfect conclusion.

Whatever the author did, he did it right because I forgot where I was and actually became immersed in the world that exists in the novel. I FELT the fear and the adrenaline rush that leads to the book's climax and resolution.

McNamee is able to develop these people through his scenes without annoying pauses from the story to set down details. McNamee also establishes the mood through Duncan's job at the Lost and Found (the Morgue). Duncan himself belongs at the Lost and Found as he sorts out his failure of last summer. Is he a hero or is he just like everyone else? The mood also comes through with Duncan's father's work on the night shift--his vampire habits which come across with humor and realism--and their home in the Jungle. McNamee establishes Duncan's life, past to present, and shows how the 17 year old is in a rut. His discovery of the skin-covered journal revives him into action. With solid details about the true habits of serial killers, McNamee lends credibility to Duncan's tale.

The one flaw, which is the same flaw as Speak, is the tidy ending. However, changing the end would be a mistake. This ending allows for McNamee's theme to come through and allows us to cheer for the hero.

A great read. I had to read the thieving of the toilet scene out loud to my wife--very funny. The best book I've read this summer.

A good workbook for in-class work, but not for individual study

This is not a textbook as it is a workbook. This book makes you look at patterns and data and try to figure out how they connect with each other. In my personal experience, this will help you understand the concepts better. It definitely did for me.

However, this is not a workbook you can do on your own. There are no answers in the back of the book to help you realize whether or not you did something right or got the concept down. There's not even a solutions book out there. Therefore, you must depend on your professor to help you guide you through the workbook. It is really meant as a supplement to the classroom. You are supposed to do this in class with others around you in order to discuss how to do problems or understand certain concepts. If you have a really good professor who knows what they're doing, you will gain a better understanding of chemistry than you ever would with the standard powerpoint lecture and textbook style.

But the problems in the book can sometimes be confusing with how they word it; or how they try to give you simpler analogies to help you do the actual chemistry work. That's why you need a good professor to help guide you and point you in the right direction.

Therefore, I wouldn't get this workbook if I wanted to study on my own. I would only get this if I knew I would be in a classroom setting working out the problems in class with my professor and peers' help. That is why I only gave it 4 stars. It's not a good book to do on your own. I actually really like this workbook. I wish my current chemistry professor utilized this type of teaching style in class because it just makes sense to me.

An excellent book full of useful information! It is focused on the home grower and specifically outlines a step by step, 'do it yourself' approach.I am personally impressed on how the author thoroughly and systematically shows the process of making your own equipment.

Using this as a reference, anyone should be able to grow mushrooms in their own home. The cleverly made Sourcing Guide at the end of the book has useful advice in finding various equipments and items needed.

In terms of ease of use, this is an excellent book on mushroom growing.

Great book! Not for beginners, but Its a definitely one to keep on the shelf. Nice easy read. Only down side is that the pictures are black and white. I still give it five stars because I enjoy this book and would definitely recommend it.

Hottest Rod & Cane yet!

Full disclosure. I am a long time Cara Bristol fan and have loved many of her books in the past so I expected to like this one, but I LOVED THIS BOOK! It was the sexiest, most erotic of the books Cara has ever written and she did it oh so good. The chemistry between the two main characters was great with good build up, a really fun first meet and plenty of realistic tension. In addition to being a sexy read, the book had me laughing out loud several times with the witty dialog and inner angst the characters put themselves through.

If you are a Rod and Cane fan, you can't miss this one. If you have never read any of the other R&C books, don't worry. Start here. They are all stand alone and there is more than enough backstory in this one to totally understand what all of the hoopla is about in the series. Great job. Now I can't wait for the next one. I sure hope it is about Jordan's brother and his wife. That will be one interesting story.

Surprises everywhere!

This book could start with a phrase like, "I was just riding alone in the elevator, minding my own business when..." The newest Rod and Cane Society book is full of surprises, starting when Hannah and Jordan meet at the Rod and Cane Society where Hannah is cleaning by herself one night. Hannah is employed by Tidy Titans and usually has a partner to help her clean, but her partner didn't show up on this fateful night, opening the door for some unusual things to happen. Jordan is taken with Hannah, but he thinks she may be too young and innocent for a die-hard spanko like him. The story focuses on their developing relationship and challenges that come from college girl meets multimillionaire. While I have enjoyed reading all of the Rod and Cane series, this one is the best so far!

Sexy DD story, awesome standalone, one of my favorites

I have loved all the Rod and Cane books by Cara Bristol, but this was definitely my favorite!
It was a sexy, fun, spanking romance that explained the aspect of Domestic Discipline beautifully, brought back some favorite characters from other R & C books, and still read easily as a standalone.

I loved the premises of older man - younger woman;
wealthy businessman - barely making ends meet, college student;
seasoned spanker - inexperienced woman who wants to be spanked.

This made for some great laughs, and some wonderfully touching moments.

This was definitely my favorite Rod and Cane story, and is right up in the top of my all time favorites for DD stories.
