Love is stronger than outside forces

I am always excited to see what L.A. Fiore has up her sleeve and was just as excited to have an opportunity to read Just Me. This book was like a vice on my heart. Moments that made it swell and moments that squeezed it so hard I almost couldn’t breathe. Sebastian and Larkspur…..beautiful people behind the pain.
This book consumed me. I had a very hard time tearing myself away. The connection shared between Lark and Bastian was so profound. Sure there was the physical but they connected on so many levels it was hard not to see them as soulmates.
Just Me…... The meaning of those words took root with me throughout the story. When you can’t find solace in your own family and are made to feel like an outcast, that is who you are left with.
After suffering the loss of her mother at a young age, Lark is forced to live with her Aunt’s family. Often made to feel less important and unworthy of a family’s affection by her Aunt, Lark grows a thick skin and forges her family bond with her best friend Poppy’s family. I knew that there had to be an underlying reason for the disdain shown to Lark by her own Aunt but her actions even once revealed were still inexcusable.
Bastian comes from a family where appearances are everything. His parents seemed to the like the idea of him, so long as he played by their rules and conformed. News flash….Bastian is a rule breaker and I think that’s what made me love him even more.
Lark and Bastian have endured many struggles on their own to become the people they are. Together they are unstoppable. A love like theirs cannot be torn apart by outside forces but endures and grows stronger.
I often found myself smiling at the flirty banter between Lark and Bastian. They were just so at ease with each other and both up for the challenge of pulling one over on each other.
The story focuses on Lark and Bastian’s relationship but also includes the secondary characters in a way that they almost don’t feel secondary. I truly enjoyed their story and unraveling the tale of their family secrets. Everyone deserves to find their happy.

Lark O'Bannion, after her mother dies she's sent to live with her aunt/uncle - not a particularly happy home environment, but she gets on with it and deals. She doesn't know who her father is, but she daydreams about who she wants him to be. As graduation looms, her life takes a turn when Bastian Ross starts school - the typical good looking, tattooed, bike riding bad boy, who will never notice her. But he does, and the two together are what fairytales are made of. But everything can't be that cut and dried can it? Of course not, this is L A Fiore's world after all - the shoe will drop, fall out ensues, and just how and if our couple survives will remain to be seen.

An added bonus, we get to visit Harrington again, home of Saffron/Logan and the swordfish funnel cake fights!

I loved this story, and this writer. Her books are never predictable, and always manage to pull on the heart strings in a truly emotional way (you really do feel their pain).

I can't believe there has only been 1 review on this fantastic book I could not stop reading it I absolutely loved LARK and what a name she was the best kind of heroine I adore kind,compassionate,loving,loyal and I could not get enough I did not want the book to end bastion what can I say he came a close 2nd to lark in loving characters so full of light even though his parents were hideous he still turned out the best kind of man loving ,supportive,loyal,sexy lol hell yeah I cried so many times in this book happy tears I will recommend this book to anyone who will listen just the best kind of love story I love this Author and will read anything she writes 100% well done so what are yáll waiting for get reading!!!!!

I don't want to say too much

I loved Sebastian from the beginning. Despite all his flaws. He was sexy, intelligent and rich. He wore his wealth more like a hoodie than a family encrusted blazer, even though he was definitely old money.

Mina, well it took me awhile to warm up to her. Just as it took awhile for her to ultimately understand herself.

The research Mina was doing in the story seemed like it was real and had meaning, but it was lost on me. I loved her searching through old trunks and admired her determination, but whatever she was researching lost my interest. I am sorry to say. I have to admit I had gotten this book through Edelweiss and I did not read the book blurb. Not knowing what was coming really added to a mystery element that i enjoyed. The book blurb does not give away too much that the story can not still be very much enjoyed, but i am glad I didn't.

I don't want to say too much, because reading every page on your own will really add so much more than me telling you about it. Let me just say this much, Mina learned a lot in two years, but not nearly enough. Sebastian may have been cast as man with a big desire for kink, but his heart is much bigger.

The sex was scorching hot and plentiful. It is most definitely for a mature audience. I will look for more work by this author in the future.

And now for something a little different. It’s still romance but not historical.
This is the first contemporary romance I’ve read as well as the first book I’ve read by the amazing voice of Sabrina Darby.
I am hooked on this author’s writing style; it’s very elegant and succinct and there is much more going on under the surface. I read an excerpt from this book after hearing about it on Twitter and bought it immediately for my Nook. It says it’s a novella, but it’s really not; the author says it’s 250 pages. Research will never be the same after you read this book!

Devoured this book! Mina's life is impacted dramatically when she meets Sebastian for the first time...and not in a good way. The second go round is completely different, as she enters into a non-relationship with him that takes her to the limits of her sensuality. Can she and Sebastian's attraction transcend the physical and become more?
No spoilers here...read the book to find out! And don't blame me if you can't put it down until you do....

About the Author
Christian Dior was born in Granville, Normandy, in 1905. He opened his own couture house in 1947, revolutionizing fashion with the “New Look.” He was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1950 and died in 1957.

Beautiful couture insight

This book is simply written but Dior gives us absolutely ALL insider info about what happens in his atelier during preparations for his new collection. It starts with his scetches and ends with front row seatting Schedule. I loved it! It really explains complicated Systems and rules of a couture house and is excellent source of information for Fashion lovers.

Great story

I'm just in the first 2 chapters, but I was hooked when I started the first sentence. Dior wasn't just one of the greatest designers
of all time, but he was also a very able writer. The story of his life as a designer is fascinating. I highly recommend this book if you
love Dior or if you're interested in the field of fashion design. It's excellent for fashion students as it gives a very clear idea of what
it takes to start a "house" and all the work that goes into it. All very exciting, of course.

An interesting book written by an adorable genius. I suggest reading this book prior to or concurrently with the "Dior and I" documentary. In the film, the narrator speaks in first-person as Dior, directly from the book, Raf Simons references the book and they visit Dior's childhood home. You'll get more out of the documentary when you understand Christian Dior, the man and the designer.
There are so many things I love about this book that I can't even think of what to say. He writes about the past and his present, and the reader is truly transported to those times in fashion history. Of course fashion fans will adore this book, but historians will also enjoy this read. I would imagine that a person who was alive when the "new look" came out in 1947 would especially enjoy this. Even my dad knows who Christian Dior is!

About the Author

Michael J. Roy, Ph.D., RAC, is an adjunct professor in the Master of Science Biotechnology Program in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He teaches Biotechnology Operations and Project Management and Leadership. He has successfully developed biopharmaceutical and medical device products for more than 22 years, serving as a consultant in biotechnology since 2001. Much of his work has focused on early development of novel biotechnology products and medical devices with emphasis on product development planning, regulatory affairs, quality systems, and project management.

He received a Ph.D. in Pathology from University of Wisconsin–Madison, an MS in Tropical Medicine and Medical Parasitology from Louisiana State University Medical Center, and a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. In addition, he holds Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC).

Mr. Roy is a retired colonel in the U.S Army. While serving, he was involved in the development of in vitro diagnostics and vaccines and in establishing ISO (International Organization of Standards) quality systems at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Ft. Detrick.

Schalow (Univ. of New Orleans) and Denker (independent scholar) offer the second edition of a very valuable work for English-speaking Heidegger scholars. Its publication follows by ten years the first edition by Denker (CH, Dec'00, 38-1890) and marks the continuing growth of interest in Heidegger's philosophy. As a German thinker, Heidegger remains, despite his detractors, the most original philosophical thinker of the 20th century. The dictionary serves principally the English-reading scholar, although a helpful list of book-length writings by and about Heidegger in English, Italian, German, and French is included. In addition to the 266 pages of the dictionary itself, featuring 600 important terms and topics translated into English, the volume offers a 5-page "Chronology of Events and Writings in Heidegger's Life" and a 43-page prose introduction to his life and major writings. The bibliography (p. 355-427), however, is the most impressive and useful part of the volume. It contains a chronological list of all of Heidegger's writings, and books about Heidegger's philosophy. In this history of plastic from the mid-19th century to the present, freelance writer Fenichell includes information on the use of plastics in industry (both in peace and war), the arts, popular culture, and fashion. Apparently for the sake of popular appeal, the author provides a chatty rather than analytical treatment, lacking documentation and being generally pro-plastic in tone. He makes some reference to the negative aspects of the industry, but the breezy writing style precludes his dealing with such issues thoroughly. Although his book has some use as a broad overview of the subject, a better choice would be Jeffrey L. Meikle's American Plastic: A Cultural History (Rutgers Univ., 1995). I sell plastic for a living and I still really liked this book

Plastic: The Making of a Synthetic Century was written by Stephen Fenichell in 1996 as a history of the plastics business. It describes the winding path that a wide range of plastics took from the lab to the marketplace. The book is filled with many, many interesting anecdotes about the entrepreneurs who blazed that trail.

The book is organized into 13 chapters arranged, mostly, in chronological order. There is the predictable, "Just one word......Plastics" cliche from The Graduate movie used as a preface. The book begins with a late 20th century scene setting chapter. Mr. Fenichell then rolls the clock back 150 years to explain the commercialization of rubber, which he properly calls "Nature's Plastic".

There are chapters about celluloid, Bakelite, and cellophane with historical vignettes about their respective titans named Eastman, Baekeland and Brandenberger. There is a dramatic account of the tragic life of Wallace Hume Carothers, the inventor of nylon. But my favorite chapter is the one entitled, "Plast-O-Rama" which highlights the ways in which post-war America went bonkers for all things plastic. From Silly Putty and Hula Hoops to Frisbees and Tupperware and Saran Wrap, it's all in this book.

Overall it thought that the Pro's of this book were:

And I thought the only Con of this book was:
The history is presented out of chronological order for no apparent reason

A Fun and Enlightening read

I came across this book by accident,while travelling. The colorful cover caught my eye, but soon after reading a few chapters I was hooked. It's the perfect beach book. Plastic is now a word that can conjure the idea of "cheap" or "fake" but it was not always so. Fenichell starts us at the beginning of the discovery of the various materials like man-made rubber and other things we now take for granted, and tells the story of each innovation as though we are standing there in the lab and the inventor yells "Eureka!" Stories about the inventors range from funny (you know Goodyear is going to eventually succeed because of his famous name, but he has many misadventures before success arrives) to poignant, in the stories where someone desperately wants to achieve fame and fortune but their "plastic" product fails to catch on and their name disappears into oblivion.
My only criticism is the chapter on my grandfather, who plays a prominent role in the history of plastic. Fenichell simplifies and distorts some of the facts about my grandfather's company, but I forgive him in that it makes the reading light and entertaining in the end (well, a couple of chapters get bogged down by technical explanations of certain chemical processes). This is a book for anyone interested in American history, sociology,and pop psychology: plastics of all kinds make up an inextricable part of every aspect of our daily lives.

Loved it

Martina is a little spitfire who have commitment issues but I am glad she resolved the issues with her mom. They needed one another. I was happy when Paul put his foot down when it came to MJ. I'm just glad that Paul was able to chip away the walls that MJ put up to fall in love.

What a sweet read!

What a sweet read! Paul's persistence paid off. His and Martina's chemistry was off the chain. I'm not going to post any spoilers but let's just say this story had me hooked. I stayed up past my bed time trying to complete it lol. I seriously cannot wait for Peyton's story

I was waiting on MJ's story and was not disappointed. This is a reminder to have eternal love in your life you have to address and solve your inner issues to make room for it. I loved Paul. He is the epitome of a grown man that knows what he wants and he is patient and willful enough to get it. Kudos! I look forward to Peyton's story.
